Twentieth Century Cash Store, 1910. This store on the northeast corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Cook Avenue carried men's clothing, boots & shoes, cigars and tobacco. Owner E. W. Parkhurst at right.

Jim Davis, drayman, c. 1900-1910. A wagonload of meat is delivered to Triggs & Taylor grocery and meat market store, located at the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Sprague (now Cook Street). James Davis is seated on the left. This postcard was sent to Mr. Davis from L. E. Webb with the message, "Hello Jim. Do you know that fat man?"
Lou Lynck, 1960s. Motorcycle policeman Lou Lynck sits at the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Cook Avenue. Titus Bros. electrical shop occupies what is now The Picnic Basket.
Lovell Drug Store, early 1900s. A drug store - known variously as Kimball & Knight’s, F.Z. Kimball & Co., F.B. Lovell & Co., F.B. Lovell Company, and finally, Petranek’s - has been in continuous operation at 426 N. Milwaukee Avenue since the 1870s. The Lovell building pictured here burnt in a 1954 fire. The current Petranek's building was built on the same site.
Florence Nyquist, 1960s. Ms. Nyquist serving customers at Langworthy Department Store in the 1960s. Langworthy’s closed its doors at 525-531 N. Milwaukee Avenue in 2000, after 60 years of serving the public at this address. Today the building is home to three businesses: Bootery Boutique, Bently’s Pet Stuff, and Singalia Gallery.
